Australian Small Winemakers Awards 2017 success for a number of our wines

The Saracen Estates team were thrilled to receive the news that our second disgorgement of our 2010 Sparkling Maree “Methode Traditionelle” had been awarded Gold and the Trophy at the 2017 Australian Small Winemakers Awards in late 2017. A follow on from its fabulous success in finishing with Gold and in the Top 5 in Winestate Magazine’s 2017 Sparkling of the Year Awards. Our 2015 Cabernet Merlot was awarded a Silver Medal and our 2016 Shiraz and Chardonnay each received a Bronze Medal. A Bronze Medal was also awarded to our newly released 2017 Sauvignon Blanc. A very good result all up for our fabulous boutique single vineyard Margaret River wines. Make sure you order yours before stocks run out.

2010 Sparkling Maree – Runner Up Winestate’s WOY Sparkling Awards!

The Saracen Estates team were excited to receive a call a fortnight ago from Winestate Magazine advising that our recently disgorged 2010 Sparkling Maree which had spent 7 years aging on lees was runner-up and in the top 5 finalists for Winestate’s Sparkling Wine of the Year award. We were advised the wine had received a higher score than all the Tasmanian Sparkling Wines that were in the running which is an incredible accomplishment.

Our 2010 Sparkling Maree had been awarded Top of Category at Winestate’s 2017 Best of the West Awards earlier on in the year and has been awarded other medals in other Wine Shows throughout 2017.

2016 Chardonnay New Release -

Clive Otto, our world renowned and award winning Margaret River Winemaker, has created a sensational Chardonnay for our 2016 vintage. Clive has taken over the reins from our retired Consultant Winemaker, Bob Cartwright. We consider Saracen Estates to be very fortunate to have been able to secure the services of Clive Otto and are very proud and pleased to release our first Chardonnay made by him. We look forward to the many vintages of Saracen Estates wines to come under the guidance of Clive Otto.

Typical of a good Margaret River Chardonnay, Clive describes this wine as having strong flavors of nectarine, ripe lime and grapefruit; the palate has subtle warmth and cool acidity; the finish is long, rich, flinty and firm with a sizzle of lime in the aftertaste. On the nose you will discover pineapple and lime with a whiff of nougat, vanilla and toast (due to the 9 months spent in new and used French oak).

SBS 2014

The Saracen Estates team released the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon at a corporate tasting at Frasers, Kings Park on Wednesday, October 22.

Guests enjoyed tastings of this light, refreshing wine on the night. The new vintage was well received and we look forward to feedback on our new release SBS from our loyal cellar members.
